The match, held at Brisbane Road, saw Orient take an early lead in the 16th minute through Jamie Donley’s remarkable long-range effort. Donley’s shot from near the halfway line hit the crossbar and rebounded off City’s goalkeeper, Stefan Ortega, into the net.

City equalized in the 56th minute when Rico Lewis’s shot deflected off substitute Abdukodir Khusanov. The decisive moment came in the 79th minute, with Kevin De Bruyne coming off the bench to score the winning goal, assisted by Jack Grealish.

The match also marked the debut of City’s £50 million signing, Nico González, who unfortunately had to leave the field due to injury after just 22 minutes.
