Rekha Gupta, born on July 19, 1974, in Julana, Haryana, is set to become the 9th Chief Minister of Delhi, marking her as the fourth woman to hold this esteemed position in the city’s history.

Educational Background:
Gupta completed her Bachelor of Commerce from Daulat Ram College under Delhi University and earned her LLB from IMIRC College of Law Bhaina, Ghaziabad, affiliated with Chaudhary Charan Singh University, Meerut, in 2022.

Political Career:
Her political journey began in 1996 when she was elected President of the Delhi University Students’ Union. She has served as a three-time councillor and former mayor of the South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC). In 2025, she won the Shalimar Bagh Assembly constituency, defeating AAP’s Bandana Kumari by a significant margin.

Party Leadership:
Gupta has held prominent positions within the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), including National Vice President of the BJP Mahila Morcha and General Secretary of the Delhi state unit.

Upcoming Oath Ceremony:
She is scheduled to take the oath of office as Delhi’s Chief Minister on February 20, 2025, at Ramlila Maidan.
